Carrefour is the world’s largest hypermarket and supermarket chain. Majid Al Futtaim Group launched the Carrefour brand in the Arab region in 1995 and is the exclusive agent for Carrefour in 38 countries in the region. Carrefour opened the first hypermarket in Egypt in 2002 in City Center Maadi, and began expanding until the number of Carrefour stores currently reached 11 hypermarkets and 25 supermarkets distributed between Cairo, Alexandria, the Red Sea and the Delta. Carrefour Egypt has more than 6,000 employees.
